The talent pool on the island of Kaua’i is next level. When you come from a community that uplifts you, your foundation to follow your dreams is a little more steady. The youth are our future and if we can provide some tools along their journey, we are all in.

Our mission: Inspire individuals to embrace their own inner Spirit of CAN. while contributing to mental wellness education through messaging and the establishment of the Science of CAN.

This means mental wellness, stoke and knowing when to ask for help. We had a big goal of providing more of this in our community, especially in teens and young adults. This summer we are excited to perpetuate our mission by connecting with five 10th and 11th graders. We recently held the first Science of CAN. camp here on Kaua’i and follow through with our goal.

Camp program managers and contributors: Andy Bestwick (founder of Spirit of CAN.)  Matt Shackley  "The Professor", Joslyn Wong (Nano Byte Labs)  our inspiration for moving forward with the camp and providing us with programming support and resources. Mahalo Joslyn Wong!

This 100% FREE camp took place over 4 days this summer, and each day they worked with the CAN. team and collaborators. They learned new ways to live life to the fullest and implement mental wellness. Alongside the focus of implementing a positive mindset, the campers were tasked with designing a t-shirt and concept art for the non-profit Big Brothers Big Sister Kauai.

The project was to create a shirt that represents Big Brothers Big Sister Kaua’i (Instagram) through a CAN. logo. Their design will be worn by their supporters and mentors, and move throughout the community.

Learning about CAN. concepts from Science of CAN. professor Matt Shackley

Each day campers received a new Science of CAN. concept shirt and learned a little more about the brand and some positive psychology.

Science of CAN Give back

Day 3 Concept Tee - Life is about the journey and what we learn along the way, not just about the destinations.

Day 4 Concept Tee - Meeting your basic needs in order to pursue of your CAN. mindset.

We are so stoked and thankful to all in involved in making this first ever Science of CAN. camp on Kauai possible. The overall project goal for class was to design a logo for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kauai for their 2023 shirt. The concept and eventual design the class came up with is totally badass! It represents both brands well the the very important mission and tagline of BBBS - "Defenders of Potential." Once the design is presented to the leadership of BBBS it will be released to the public!

Stay Tuned!

We'll announce BBBS/CAN.  2023 design in November/ December 2022.

Thanks to our awesome customers and to our team, always Believing in the Spirit of CAN.

And a huge mahalo to Lili' uokalani Trust  for use of their space in Lihue and to Leadership Kauai for use of their space during the camp.
