Haleakala Bicycle Climb. CAN. Summit on Maui!

Haleakala Bicycle Climb. CAN. Summit on Maui!
The 9th Island Crew traveled to Maui to celebrate Tony’s 50th birthday. All top shelf ambassadors of CAN. We managed a perfect day of celebration.  We started the day with sunrise snorkeling, then on to an epic adventure of cycling. We gave them full support while Matt and Christian rode from the warm seas of the pacific to the summit of  Haleakalā. After, we finished it off with a beautiful sunset!

Strong Goals - spiritofcan

The GOAL! Haleakalā volcano is one of the most difficult climbs in the world.
- 10,000 feet of vertical climbing, 36 miles, gradients reaching 18%

Donnie, a perfect mountain guide, explains the route to Allegiant Air Team Director and birthday boy Tony Gebbia and Christian Heule AKA Swiss Robot. If you are interested in attempting this ride here's where you start at Donnie'w shop. He rents bikes and will help you get equipped for your summit. (808) 579-9009

Matt, Christian, and Donnie at what they call conversation pace... In reality these guys are wicked fast. Notice at the bottom Google says it takes nearly 7 hours on a bike from Donnie's shop to the summit... Stay tuned for Matt's epic time.

Bicycle Climb - spirit of can

Tough day on the bike, but great first ascent time for Matt finishing in ~3:15 !!

Sunset celebration! Surround by people who live and believe in the Spirit of CAN.

Love these guys!!

Just in case you want to attempt this amazingly tough climb to summit, here's the route. Again I'd make sure to contact someone like Donnie at the bike shop and have support. These guys are professionals (literally). This isn't easy stuff but if you are reading this blog you likely aren't about easy. You are about... CAN.

Don't take the road up to Pukalani, go Baldwin up to Makawao and then thru Kula to Haleakala Ribbon road. If you get to the summit you'll hopefully be rewarded with... THIS!

Much Aloha from www.SpritOfCan.com . Hope to see you out there!
